Neighbors show support after Buddha shrine vandalized in Salt Lake City

Local News

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (News4Utah) – A Sugarhouse man wants to know who vandalized a Buddha shrine in front of his home.

The Buddhist Shrine is located at 1917 South 900 East in Salt Lake City. He says someone threw a large rock at the face of the statute, smashing the nose, leaving a gaping hole. He says the vandal also stole the crown that was on top of the statue’s head.

The shrine was just dedicated to the community by a local zen master in November 2017.

Well wishers have been leaving flowers at the site and saying hello.  The owner now plans to purchase another large Buddha head to replace the damaged one. If you’d like to contribute, a GoFundMe page as been set up for donations.
