Neighbors of gunman in Las Vegas attack shocked

Local News

The small town of Mesquite is devastated after learning the gunman in the Las Vegas attack Sunday was from their own town.

Bill Parker lives near the shooter police identified as 64-year-old Stephen Paddock. “We don’t even have graffiti in this town,” he said. “To think that something was in our neighborhood who would do such a thing, without a background whatsoever of hostility or criminality is crazy.”

Monday morning law enforcement searched Paddock’s home. Inside they say they found 18 guns and thousands of rounds of ammunition. The home belongs to Paddock’s girlfriend 62-year-old Marilou Danley. The couple moved in within the last two years.

Danley was considered a person of interest early in the investigation, but police now confirm she does not appear to have been involved in the shooting and was out of the country when the massacre took place, authorities said.

The city is offering free counseling services for those who may have been impacted. Just call the Salvation Army of Mesquite at (702) 345-5116.

This is a developing story. Updates will be posted as they become available.
