Murray resident among winners in international writing contest

Murray resident, Darci Stone, has been officially announced as a winner in the Writers of the Future Contest. The contest, one of the most prestigious writing competitions, is in its 34th year and is judged by some of the premier names in speculative fiction. She joined Midday 

Darci is a 1st Place Quarter Winner in the Writers of the Future contest earning her a cash prize, trip to Hollywood, a week-long professional workshop, an awards ceremony, and a publishment in the bestselling anthology, L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers of the Future Volume 34.

As a 1st Place Quarterly Winner, she is eligible for the grand prize which is the Golden Pen Award, along with a $5,000 cash prize. To maintain the integrity of the contest, she can’t mention the title of her story or talk about it.

Darci is married to another Writers of the Future winner, Eric James Stone. He also holds a Nebula Award.

The contest is judged by the luminaries of speculative fiction including Utahans Orson Scott Card, Brandon Sanderson and David Farland.

The Annual Awards Ceremony will be held at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, April 8th, 2018. Grand prize winners of the Writers and Illustrators of the Future contests will then be announced.
