MOUNTAIN GREEN, Utah (News4Utah) One man is dead after a motorcycle crash on Interstate 84 late Friday afternoon.

Utah Highway Patrol said the report of the crash came in just after 5 p.m.

Witnesses told troopers the motorcycle was traveling at a very high rate of speed, nearly 100 miles per hour.

UHP said the driver of a Yamaha VM7 left the roadway to the left and went into the cable barrier where he and the bike separated. From there, both he and the bike traveled across both westbound lanes and into the jersey barrier.

The motorcyclist, later identified as Chad David Whittle, 46, was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

Troopers believe alcohol and speed are contributing factors in the crash.
