Mother and daughter dead in Magna murder-suicide

Local News

MAGNA, Utah (News4Utah) – Detectives with the Unified Police Department say a mother and daughter found dead in their Magna home is a case of murder-suicide.

Police say Karina Clark, 41, shot and killed her 9-year-old daughter Madison Clark and then turned the gun on herself.

Investigators are still trying to determine the exact timeframe of when it happened. The bodies were discovered Sunday night.

According to Salt Lake County Sheriff Rosie Rivera, a call came in at 9:30 p.m. Sunday from a Relief Society Member asking them to do a welfare check at the home at 2665 South 8990 West. When officers arrived, they found the bodies of Karina and Madison. They were the sole residents of the home.

“Right now it’s just an unfortunate situation. Any time there’s a child involved it’s a tough call for everybody involved,” said Salt Lake County Sheriff Rosie Rivera.

This is a developing story. More detail will be posted as they become available.
