Most seasonal highways won’t be open Memorial Day

Local News

KAMAS, Utah (ABC4 News) – A number of seasonal roads and highways will remain closed this Memorial Day weekend because of heavy snow, according to Utah Department of Transportation.

That includes Mirror Lake Highway, which is a tourism magnet for Kamas.

UDOT spokesperson John Gleason says there are several seasonal roads that still have feet of snow on them.

Guardsman Pass and Mirror Lake Highway are a couple of the more than half dozen seasonal roads still closed due to snow.

Typically, those roads would see plenty of Memorial Day weekend traffic; this year, that won’t happen.

UDOT says in coming weeks, the heavy equipment will come out and the roads will be cleared. But not until the weather cooperates.
