Officials on Wednesday said they saw a record percentage of families who said “yes” to organ donation in the Beehive state.
More than 400 organs were transplanted in 2018. Yesutah.org joined several donors and recipients along with their families to talk about the importance of organ donation in our community.
Donor wife, Julie Neuberger, told attendees she was saved twice and said she is grateful for those who donated their organs.
“The gifts that were given to me helped me raise a beautiful daughter, go back to school, receive my bachelors, business degree,” she said. “Work at the University of Utah for 27 years. Marry the man of my dreams, gain four sons and travel the world with my beloved husband.”
Officials tell ABC4 News that 113,000 people are still on the national waiting list, with over 750 of them here in Utah.
