OGDEN, Utah (ABC4 News) – New details have been released in a fatal shooting in Ogden over the weekend.
According to documents, officers responded to Super Groceries located at 511 31st St. on report of a gunshot wound just before midnight on Saturday.
When officers arrived on scene they found Hispanic male dead in front of the store with three gunshot wounds and .45 caliber shell casings located near his body.
During an interview with a witness, the suspect was described as wearing black pants, black sports jacket with gold stripes, and a white baseball cap. Officers surrounded the house and when the homeowner came out, he stated the guy who did it was in the basement, documents state.
The suspect was identified as Everardo Guadarrama-Garcia, 24.
While being taken into custody, Garcia admitted to killing a man named “Mauricio”, documents state.
According to arresting documents, Garcia said he shot the victim then hid the gun in the ceiling in the common area of the apartment where the drywall was cut out. Police were able to recover the gun in the exact location Garcia described.
Police said after shooting the victim, Garcia pointed his gun at another male who had arrived with the victim, then left the scene in a car that was occupied by a female.
The other man at the scene then ran away on foot.
Garcia admitted pointing the gun at the man because “he thought the male may do something in response to the shooting”, documents state.
Garcia admitted he had smoked methamphetamine earlier in the evening.
He is currently being held in the Weber County Jail without bail. Police said in the arresting documents that Garcia is likely to flee and is a substantial danger to any other person or to the community.
Documents also state Garcia has multiple failures to appear for court appearances on previous charges.

OGDEN, Utah (ABC4 News) – Ogden police are investigating a deadly shooting that happened late Saturday night on the 500 block of 31st Street.
A press release from the department states that when officers arrived at the scene they found a young male, in his mid-20’s, unconscious and bleeding from an apparent gunshot wound. He died at the scene.
Officers immediately started searching for the suspect and were able to find and arrest 24-year-old Everardo Guadarrama Garcia, a short time later. The press release states that investigators believe this was an isolated incident and that there is no threat to the public.
The Ogden Police Department says the investigation is ongoing and that the name of the victim is being withheld so family can be notified.
