Mitt Romney being recruited to run for U.S. Senate in 2018

Local News

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 Utah) – Senator Orrin Hatch is now in his 7th consecutive term in the United States Senate. There has been much speculation whether or not Hatch will run for an eighth.

While the answer to that question is to be determined, there has been effort made by a local group to try and recruit Mitt Romney for the race.

Republican State Senator Dan Hemmert of Orem stops by Inside Utah Politics to explain why he has been helping to organize this effort and why he believes Romney is the best choice.

“I think his statesmanship, the way he looks at problems, the way he talks to people, and the way he deliberates really resonates with Utah culture.” Hemmert said.

He also speaks on how the recruitment and petition process began and why he thinks it will work.
