GRAND COUNTY, Utah (News4Utah) – A Minnesota man died after falling 60 feet while rappelling in Grand County Monday night.

According to a statement issued by the Grand County Sheriff’s Office, 33-year-old Scott Henning was hiking with a friend in an area above Moonflood Canyon near Moab and was in the process of rappelling down into the canyon when he had a problem with his rope and fell.

Grand County Search and Rescue and EMS responded to the area but the terrain made reaching the man difficult. Classic Lifeguard assisted in flying EMS to the patient location.

Because of safety reasons a Department of Public Safety Helicopter was unable to help assist in recovering the man until Tuesday morning.

He has been taken to the Medical Examiner’s Office in Taylorsville.
