Midvale hotel, cars flooded after canal breach

MIDVALE, Utah (ABC4 News) - A hotel and a number of cars flooded Thursday night after a canal breach at a nearby high school.

The flooding happened near the Homewood Suites hotel located at 844 North Union Avenue at about 11 p.m.

Officials said the flooding was caused when a crew attempted to fix a canal breach at Hillcrest High School. The parking lot was filled with about two to three feet of water.

A hotel attendant at the Homewood Suites told ABC4 News they moved about 10 rooms to a higher floor and may have to move more rooms today. Emergency crews will head to the hotel to help with the cleanup.

This is a developing story, we will provide more information as they become available.
