Meet Salt Lake City’s newest Local and Entrepreneurship Manager

Local News

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC4 News) The Salt Lake City Department of Economic Development continues to do big things in the city. The latest, an addition to their staff making sure new businesses in the area succeed. Roberta Reichgelt  from the department joined Good Morning Utah with Emily Clark to explain.

Time is money for business owners, so what we want to do is help them get through the city planning process faster. I help act as a liaison, when you encounter problems that are not being solved I engage with city planners to give you faster service and better results.

Salt Lake City’s Economic Development office provides assistance and I help guide you to more resources for help.

In fact, there are so many opportunities and resources from Salt Lake City that businesses may not be aware of. They are not being utilized both within the city and through our statewide partners.

We are constantly looking for ways to strengthen our city’s economy, provide better quality of life, and build on local assets.

The city applied for and won two Main Street America designations in Salt Lake City. These two neighborhoods, State Street and the Granary District are Salt Lake City’s most creative districts with a lot of potential for growth.

The Granary has a gritty, urban vibe we want to develop thoughtfully with focus on celebrating community character and preserving its local history.

The designation means more support and access to Main Street Center’s consulting resources which will help us do that, while also generating economic returns.

America’s best kept secret for job growth and entrepreneurship is in Salt Lake City. At the heart of it is the small business owner, one of the hardest working and underserved engines of our economy.
