UPDATE: Friday morning Mayor McAdams vetoed the Olympia Hills development.

HERRIMAN, Utah (News4Utah) Salt Lake County Mayor Ben McAdams hosted a town hall meeting in Herriman Thursday night over the Olympia Hills development.

The Salt Lake County Council voted to re-visit the high-density housing development proposal earlier this week.

The council approved the plan to build more than 8,000 units on 930 acres near Herriman last week, but residents voiced their concerns leading to Thursday night’s meeting.

“My concern is if we’re building these homes and we only get this tax money to support this area one time, where’s it coming from the rest of the time?” asked one concerned resident.

People gathered outside of the meeting collecting signatures to have the proposal struck down. Several hundred people concerned about the idea showed up to speak.
