Star Wars fans all over the world will be observing the unofficial Jedi holiday, May 4th this weekend, and the rebel scum, nerfherders and scoundrels here in Utah are no exception!
The Beehive State has its fair share of Star Wars Day celebrations happening:
Clark Planetarium’s May the 4th Be With You celebration
The planetarium will have $4 shows all day long and free festivities from 2-6 p.m. You can also snap a photo with Star Wars cosplayers from the 501st Legion, or get in on the action yourself and take part in the costume contest at 4 p.m.!

Salt Lake County Library hosts Mos Eisley Cantina
From 7-10 p.m., the Library’s Viridian Event Center in West Jordan will be transported to a galaxy far, far away. Leave your younglings at home for this one. The event, which is free for adults 18 and older, will feature costume and trivia contest, mocktails and games.

May the 4th Be With You at Spanish Fork Library
From 1-2 p.m., the whole family can make their own lightsabers and dress in their Star Wars best!

For bowling, games and Glow Golf (!), Fat Cats Salt Lake City is celebrating Star Wars day all day, offering special “Jedi” and “Padawan” Passes.

The Urban Arts Gallery presents “Star Wars / Heroes and Villains”
Attend the opening reception for an exhibit of fan art from the Star Wars universe, as well as other popular geek culture franchises like Marvel and D.C. Comics. From 6-9 p.m., the reception is free for all ages.

Maybe you’re in the mood for some Star Wars-themed comedy and improv. If that’s the case, Quick Wits in Midvale has you covered with their Star Wars themed show at 10 p.m.

May the 4th Be With Anime Banzai
One main street in Sandy, Anime Banzai, Utah’s largest Anime convention, is hosting an event for games, crafts, prizes and, of course, a Star Wars costume contest. Organizers are also asking people to bring canned food, which will be donated wot the Utah Food Bank, or clothing, which will go to the Road Home.

Beat Saber Competition at GameTyrant Family Gaming Center
GameTyrant Gaming Center in North Salt Lake is hosting a May the 4th Be With You event from noon-10 p.m. If you come in Star Wars cosplay, you’ll get half off VR, PC and Console time all day long. The Beat Saber Competition kicks off at 6 p.m.

The UNION with Drewbacca
For cosplay and dance music, The UNION Tavern in Midvale is where you want to be. The bar is touting Star Wars-themed cocktail specials, no cover, and electronic dance musician, Drewbacca, mixing music videos on their big projector screen.

If you’re looking for a concert, you could check out Ginger and the Gents at the Royal at 9 p.m. in Salt Lake City, but if you show up early you can expect Star Wars-themed food and drink. In Cottonwood Heights, Folk Hogan– a folk/punk six-piece lineup– is playing at The Hog Wallow Pub at 9 p.m. as well. It’s 21+ and $5/ticket.
