WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (ABC74 News) – A man was robbed and had his car stolen when he went to meet up with someone to sell his cell phone early Saturday morning.

According to West Valley City Lt. Jeff Conger, the man went to Hunter Park near 3500 South 6000 West at 1:30 a.m. to sell a cell phone but when he arrived, he was met by two men and a woman, one wielding a machete.

Conger said the three individuals stole the man’s car and left the area.

Police were able to track down two of those involved. Kilpatrick Ward, 20, and Paige Patten, 21, admitted to being involved in the robbery and were arrested and booked into the Salt Lake City Jail for aggravated robbery.

The third person, later identified as Jose Ivan Beltran Perez, 23, and believed to be the man with the machete, was arrested later Saturday for stealing a purse at Valley Fair Mall on Saturday. Officers recognized Perez as a suspect in the earlier robbery that morning. He was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail for aggravated robbery.

The car they stole from the victim has been recovered. No one was injured in the incident.
