ST. GEORGE, Utah (ABC4 news) – A 23-year-old man was arrested last week after police say he was driving with seven times the legal alcohol limit when he fled the scene of a crash in Washington County.
According to arresting documents, police were called to a report of an impaired driver who had left the scene of an accident at 1911 W. Sunset Blvd.
Witnesses said the man was driving at least 60 mph prior to the crash in an area where the speed limit is posted as 40 mph.
After crashing, the man got out of his car and started yelling at the other driver, causing her alarm, witnesses told police.
According to documents, officers were able to locate the car and stop the driver who was identified as Jordan Phoenix Neal.
The officer said Neal was unable to maintain his balance for more than 2 seconds and failed the field sobriety test. His breathalyzer test indicated he had a BAC of 0.35, documents state.
Neal was transported to the hospital as a precaution due to the high level of alcohol in his system, according to documents.
Once he was cleared, he was booked into the Washington County Jail on charges of DUI, speeding, disorderly conduct, leaving the scene of an accident and driving without valid insurance.
