Man who after darting across freeway in Murray has been identified

UPDATE: The Utah Highway Patrol has identified the victim who was hit and killed while running across I-15 in Murray as 22-year-old Ismail Ibrahim Hissein Abdallah out of Salt Lake City.

The investigation shows Abdallah’s vehicle came hit a second vehicle before slamming into the concrete barrier. Investigators are looking to identify the second vehicle and the driver.  

MURRAY, Utah (News4Utah) – A man was killed after hitting a barrier then exiting his vehicle and being hit by multiple cars as he darted across the freeway Saturday morning. 

Sgt. Lawrence Hopper, Utah Highway Patrol, said a man driving a Hyundai Sonata southbound on I-15 near 3900 South for some reason veered to the right, and hit the concrete barrier. The vehicle then veered to the left, hitting the barrier on the left shoulder. 

The man exited the vehicle and tried to run westbound, across all the lanes of the freeway. The man was struck by multiple vehicles, sustaining fatal injuries. 

The cause of the crash is still under investigation. The man’s identity has not been released pending notification to his family.
