Man shot in leg by vandals breaking into roommates car

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC4 News) – A man was shot in the leg by vandals breaking into his roommates car in Salt Lake City early Sunday morning. 

Salt Lake City Police Lt Russ Amott said that woman was informed just before 5 a.m. at her home near 900 West 800 North that her car was being vandalized. She and a male roommate went outside to confront the suspects when one of them pulled out a gun and shot the man in the leg. 

Amott said there were three suspects who then took off running on foot headed west before they disappeared.

The man was transported with non-life-threatening injuries. 

Amott said the suspect who shot the man is described as a tall white male around 25-30 years of age. They do not have a description on other two suspects at this time.

Police are still investigating the incident and also looking into if there is any connection between the two parties.
