WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (ABC4 News) – A man is recovering after being shot in the leg during a family gathering in West Valley City Friday night.
Lt. Jeff Conger, West Valley City Police, said the incident happened at about 10:15 p.m. at 2110 West Alexander St. when witnesses told police a vehicle pulled up and opened fire on the crowd, before driving off.
One adult male was struck in the leg. He was transported to the hospital in good condition.
Police found evidence at the scene that a shooting took place and after following up on leads, they were able to locate and arrest three suspects. Conger said two adult males and one juvenile male were taken into custody.
Isaac Rivas, 18, and Angel Joseph Mancia, 18, were booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on felony attempted homicide and felony discharge of a firearm.
The third suspect was taken to a juvenile detention facility.
Conger said both Rivas and Mancia are known gang members.
The investigation into the shooting is ongoing and police have not said what led up to the shooting or who, if anyone, was their intended target.
