Man shot in arm after dog triggers gun at sports club in Corinne

CORINNE, Utah (ABC4 Utah) – A man was shot after a dog accidently knocked over a shot gun in Box Elder County Friday afternoon. 

According to the Dale Ward with the Box Elder County Sherif’s Office, deputies were called about 4:30 p.m. at the Chesapeake Duck Club in Corinne on a call of an accidental shooting. 

During the course of the investigation, deputies discovered that the a man was shot when he and another hunter were in a pit blind on the club property. The other hunter had his younger dog with him and when the victim got up to stretch, it excited the young dog, and thought something more was taking place. 

The dog tried to exit the pit and in the process a gun somehow discharged. A victim was struck in the forearm by the bullet, causing a rather substantial injury. 

Those around the victim started to transport him to the hospital but were met by an ambulance while en-route. 

The man was taken to Brigham City Hospital then transferred to Mckay-Dee Hospital in Ogden. He was last listed in stable condition but has since been released. 

Investigators are having difficulty reaching those all those involved. The investigation is ongoing.
