Man killed in Salt Lake City stabbing, stepson in custody

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC4 News) – A man has died after a stabbing in Salt Lake City Saturday afternoon. 

Medical crews responded to the area of 1700 South Lake Street around 1 p.m. on a man in his 50’s who was in cardiac arrest after an apparent stabbing. 

Resuscitation efforts was unsuccessful and the man died as a result of his injuries. 

He has been identified as 54-year-old Johnny Postlethwait. Police say his stepson, Charles A. Petrie, 30, was booked into jail for his murder.

A 5-year-old girl was present at the time of the stabbing but has since been reunited with her mother.
