Man involved in officer involved critical incident in Millcreek arrested

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC4 News) – A man involved in an officer involved critical incident in Millcreek has been arrested.

The incident started just after 2 p.m. on Saturday when officers attempted to take Robert Craig Ortega, 36, into custody over a warrant for sexual assault near 3250 South 1100 East.

An altercation ensued and an officer fired his weapon at the man who then fled in in his car. That car was later found at a home in Millcreek in the area of 4100 South 800 East. Containment was set up on the home and the Unified Police SWAT responded but the suspect was not located in or around the home.

Salt Lake Police said they arrested Ortega on Monday but further details were not known. 

Ortega has a lengthy criminal history and was on supervised release at the time of the incident.
