HARRISVILLE, Utah (ABC4 News) – A man is in the hospital after an officer-involved shooting early Saturday morning.
Pleasant View and North Ogden Police Departments were dispatched to an apartment complex located at 2510 N Charleston Ave at 5:26 a.m. Saturday after a report of a domestic disturbance.
When officers arrived on scene they were confronted by a male holding knife in each hand. Harrisville police say the male advanced on the officers despite repeated commands to stop.
Officials say a tazer deployment failed and the man was shot multiple times. He was taken by Northview Fire to McKay Dee Hospital in critical condition.
A multi-agency task force led by the Weber County Attorney’s Office will conduct the Officer Involved Shooting Investigation to determine if the use of force was justified, authorities say.
An independent internal investigations will be conducted by each individual department to determine if officers followed protocol and adhered to policy regarding the use of deadly force.
Officers involved have been placed on administrative leave.
