Man hit, killed by car in Layton identified

UPDATE 4/19: Police have identified the victim as 32-year-old Nicholas Hiatt of Layton. Investigators say he was not in the crosswalk at the time of the incident. 


LAYTON, Utah (ABC4 News) – A man is dead after he was hit by a car in Layton Wednesday night. 

Layton City police responded to an auto-pedestrian crash at 8:50 p.m. at 2880 North Main Street. 

Police said a vehicle traveling northbound hit a pedestrian crossing the road. The pedestrian, a 32-year-old man, was not in a crosswalk when he was hit, but police said the crosswalk is several hundred feet away. 

The man was rushed to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead. 

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. 

The victim’s identity has not been released.
