FARMINGTON, Utah (ABC4) – The 32-year-old man that fell from the Sky Ride at Utah’s Lagoon Amusement Park has died.

Saturday evening, authorities in Davis County responded to Lagoon. They say the man is believed to have fallen about 50 feet from the ride.

An initial investigation does not indicate there was a mechanical malfunction to the ride or the specific car the man was riding in at the time of the fall.

The man was flown by helicopter to the University of Utah Hospital in critical condition.

Farmington Police Chief Wayne Hansen has confirmed the man has died. Following a request from the man’s family, the identity of the man will not be released.

At this time, Hansen says they are still working to determine what happened. Lagoon is cooperating with the investigation.

Lagoon released the following statement regarding the incident:

“We are saddened by the incident that occurred [Saturday] on the Sky Ride. Our hearts go out to the family and other associated. The incident is under investigation by local authorities and Lagoon is cooperating with that investigation.”

“The Sky Ride has been operating without incident since its installation in 1974 and there is no indication that the ride malfunctioned. Lagoon was given authorization by authorities to reopen the ride Sunday.”

FARMINGTON, Utah (ABC4) – Davis County Dispatch received multiple calls Saturday evening of a person falling off the Sky Ride at Lagoon Amusement Park.

Responding officers learned the victim was a 32-year-old adult male, and based off of multiple eyewitness reports he was riding alone.

Authorities estimate the man fell from about 50 feet and in the initial investigation it does not indicate there was a mechanical malfunction to the ride or the specific car the victim was riding in at the time of the fall.

Lagoon released the following statement regarding the incident:

“We are saddened by the incident that occurred yesterday on the Sky Ride. Our hearts go out to the family and other associated. The incident is under investigation by local authorities and Lagoon is cooperating with that investigation.”

“The Sky Ride has been operating without incident since its installation in 1974 and there is no indication that the ride malfunctioned. Lagoon was given authorization by authorities to reopen the ride Sunday.”

According to a press release from the Farmington City Police Department, the man was flown by helicopter to the University of Utah Hospital and was last reported in critical condition.
