Police say the incident happened late Wednesday morning on the 5200 South block of Ambermount Drive in Herriman.
A passerby saw a suspected package theft in progress. The witness took photos of the suspect car and the driver. After a male suspect returned to a white early 2000s Chevy Impala with the presumed stolen packages, he and a female suspect left the area.

The shot was fired at 14806 South Juniper Crest Road. Police say the witness was not hit and they stopped following the suspect.
