Man faces manslaughter charges following deadly police chase

Local News

AMERICAN FORK (News4Utah)- An elderly man is dead after police say a driver hit the car the man and his wife were in while he was trying to escape from officers.

It happened Friday morning at 900 West and State Street.

Ramon Orozco caught part of the incident on camera:

The video shows police approaching the truck the driver was in, smashing the windows, and pulling the suspect to the ground to handcuff him.

Police identified that driver as 21-year-old Trevor Pitcher.

Police say the chase started after officers attempted to pull over Pitcher at a stop sign near 500 East State Street. He took off, eventually coming to a stop by hitting the couple’s vehicle.

Officials say the elderly man was pronounced dead on scene. His wife, the driver, was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Officers say Pitcher has a history of fleeing from police and was possibly impaired.
