Man escapes Murray house fire; arson not suspected

MURRAY, Utah (News4Utah) – A Murray man was able to get out of his home safely before it went up in flames Friday morning.

The house fire happened at 5900 South 259 East around 4:30 a.m.

A neighbor told News4Utah’s Brittany Johnson that the homeowner was asleep at the time of the fire and woke up to a loud noise. According to the neighbor, the homeowner went to the back of his house, noticed it was on fire and ran out. 

Investigators believe the fire was caused by electrical wiring near the back porch area. Arson is not suspected.
