RICHMOND, Utah (ABC4 Utah)- A 44-year-old man was ejected from his car after hitting road kill Tuesday morning. He died on scene.
Troopers say that man, Gene A. Lee was from Lewiston. He was traveling southbound on SR-91 at about mile marker 41 (near Pepperidge Farm) when he hit a deer carcass causing him to lose control.
He ended up going off the highway into an irrigation ditch. At that point he hit an embankment and rolled.
Investigators say Lee was not wearing a seat belt and evidence shows he was “distracted by texting” at the time of the crash.
