WASHINGTON COUNTY, Utah (News4Utah) – A Utah man died after suffering a medical condition and falling into the water while he was fishing in Southern Utah Friday afternoon.
Washington County Sheriff’s office Lt. David Crouse said the man, believed to be in his 60’s, was fishing out in the middle of the Lower Sand Cove Reservoir around 3:30 p.m. on an inflatable boat when he appeared to suffer some sort of medical condition.
Witnesses said the man fell out of the boat and into the water.
A couple of individuals who were at the scene, pulled the man from the water. Attempts to resuscitate him were not successful. Medical personnel and a medical helicopter where on scene but the man ultimately died.
Crouse said they do not have enough information to know what medical condition the man suffered from or if he died from falling into the water. The man was transported to the medical examiners office where an autopsy will be performed.
The man was wearing a life vest. His identity has not been released.
