OGDEN (ABC4 News)- A 80-year-old man is dead after crashing into a tree while backing out of a driveway, police said.

Ogden police said a 2006 Buick Lacrosse was stopped in the driveway at the home in the 1400 block of 12th Street. The driver, Raymond McIntosh, 80, of Ogden, was sitting in the car.

The man’s 84-year-old sister from Colorado Springs, Colo. was standing near the open driver’s door, leaning toward the inside of the car.

For some unknown reason, the car abruptly began moving in reverse. The car reserved in an arc out into the street and back into the front yard where it came to a stop when it hit a tree.

Both McIntosh and his sister were taken to McKay Dee Hospital. McIntosh later died due to his injuries. His sister is improving and is expected to recover.
