CLEARFIELD, Utah (ABC4 News) – A man involved in a fight a Clearfield gas station succumbed to his injuries Thursday, police said.
Clearfield Police Department was called about a fight between a customer and the store owner at Chevron gas station at 680 N. Main Street around 1 p.m.
When officers arrived, they found Brandon Stufflebean, 39, of Layton, unconscious with a serious injury sustained during the fight.
Witnesses said Stufflebean came into the store where there was a verbal argument with store employees over the purchase of a drink. The argument escalated into a physical confrontation and Stufflebean was punched once in the face.
He was transported to the hospital in critical condition until Thursday afternoon when he died due to his injuries.
Police said the incident is considered an active investigation pending reports from the Office of the Medical Examiner and additional investigation. No arrests have been made at this time. The case, when completed, will be screened with the Davis County Attorney’s Office for the possibility of criminal charges.
