Man charged in fatal crash in stolen car

UPDATE: A man who allegedly caused a crash back in November that killed his 25-year-old passenger has been formally charged. 

35-year-old Alberto Herrera was charged Friday in 3rd District Court with Automobile homicide and negligent DUI among other charges after a crash in a stolen car killed Elcina Tso of Blanding. 

Charging documents state Herrera tested positive for THC, methamphetamine and amphetamine at the time of the crash. 


WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah (ABC4 Utah)- A 25-year-old woman is dead and three others are injured after police say a person driving a stolen vehicle crashed into a pickup truck Tuesday.

It happened around 8 a.m. on 2900 South and Redwood Road.

The driver of the stolen car reportedly reached down to grab something when they hit the truck head-on. Northbound Redwood road in the area was closed until around 3 p.m.

Police say the woman in the passenger seat of the reported stolen car died at the hospital. She was later identified as Elcina Tso. The driver of the stolen car, a 35-year-old man suffered several broken bones. The two passengers in the pickup managed to walk away with minor injuries.
