Man attempts to flee after hitting power pole in crash

SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah (ABC4 News) – A man suffered minor injuries after a rollover crash into a power pole Friday morning. 

The crash happened at 5:18 a.m. near 2650 East and 3300 South in East Millcreek. 

Officials say the man got out of his car and fled the scene after, but was later apprehended by police near 2650 Lambourne Avenue.

Detective Ken Hansen with the Unified Police Department said when they found the man he was acting erratically.

The man had sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash and Hansen said was treated on scene. No one else was injured in the crash.  

He was later arrested for a possible DUI, according to police.

Officials say 3300 South has been reduced to one lane in each direction. damages. Power to the pole has been turned off as crews work to repair damaged power pole. 

About 160 people are out of power in the area as a result of the crash, according to Rocky Mountain Power’s website. They estimate that the power will be restored at 1 p.m.

The name of the man in the crash has not yet been released.
