EAGLE MOUNTAIN, Utah (ABC4 News) – A Utah County man was arrested after it was discovered he had sexually assaulted multiple times since she was 14.
Police in Utah County said they were called to a report of a sex offense in Eagle on December 11. A female juvenile was being transported to the Sheriff’s Office for an interview while detectives with Utah County Sheriff’s Office Special Victims Task Force interviewed 29-year-old Justin Scott Nelson at the home.
Detectives discovered Nelson had been having a “sexual relationship with the juvenile in which he held a position of trust”.
Nelson told detectives the “relationship” had been sexual for the last three years, since the girl was just 14 and happened at least once a month.
During an interview with the juvenile, she confirmed Nelson had been sexually assaulting her for three years.
Based on the interviews, Nelson was arrested and booked into the Utah County Jail on 23 separate felony counts of unlawful sexual contact with a 16-17 year old.
The use of the word “relationship” is from police records. ABC4 takes sexual assault very seriously and recognizes the severity of these allegations and in no way is minimalizing the report.
