Man arrested for causing disturbance, while in possession of weapons, at Sundance Resort

SUNDANCE, Utah (ABC4 News) – A Salt Lake City man was arrested after police said he caused a disturbance at Sundance Resort and was in possession of three guns while on felony probation out of Colorado.

Arresting documents state deputies were called to the Sundance Resort on Monday on a report of an intoxicated man. The caller reported the situation was starting to escalate.

Witnesses told officers the man, Paul Ryan Freeman, 35, of Salt Lake City, said he had a gun. 

Deputies arrived and found Freeman waiting for them on the steps of his room. Police said Freeman was intoxicated but was cooperative with deputies. 

A records check confirmed to police that Freeman is currently on probation within Colorado which stipulates he is restricted from being in possession of firearms.

Arresting documents further stated Freeman’s probation agent asked deputies to search his vehicle and hotel room. During the search, deputies found three firearms, one in the trunk and two in the passenger compartment, and a usable amount of marijuana.

Police said his criminal history from Colorado shows he is a convicted felon. He does not have any criminal history in Utah.

Freeman was booked into the Utah County Jail on three third-degree felony charges of possession of a dangerous weapon by a restricted person, misdemeanor charges of intoxication and possession of marijuana and one infraction of disorderly conduct.
