Man arrested for burning his disabled mother with a cigarette, dragging her by her hair

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (ABC4 News) – A 25-year-old man was arrested for putting a cigarette out on his disabled mother’s leg then dragging her by the hair when she tried to escape him. 

According to charging documents, William Johnson Larned entered his mother’s home unlawfully on Tuesday and began assaulting his mother, who is completely blind. 

Unable to defend herself, Larned then put out his cigarette on her leg and when she tried to run away, he pushed her down on the couch, according to documents. 

Eventually, the mother was able to get outside of the home but Larned grabbed her by the hair and dragged her back inside the home. 

Larned was arrested and booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on felony charges of burglary and robbery and misdemeanor charges of criminal trespassing and aggravated abuse of a vulnerable adult.
