WEST JORDAN, Utah (News4utah) – A police chase with a man on a stolen motorcycle in West Jordan was terminated, but police, who recognized the suspect, were still able to locate him and take him into custody.
Sgt. Dan Roberts, West Jordan Police, said Brandon Briggs, 38, was arrested at his home after fleeing from police in a stolen motorcycle during a traffic stop at 7000 South Redwood.
The motorcycle did not have proper tags and was later determined to be stolen.
Briggs refused to stop for the officer and entered into a short pursuit before the chase was terminated.
The officer involved in the chase recognized Briggs so they were able to go to the suspects home near 7400 South 2700 West and wait for him to return.
When Briggs showed up on foot, he attempted to hide from officers but witnesses saw the man run into his residence after jumping over the fence. He was located inside the residence and taken into custody.
The motorcycle was found nearby and wrecked. It is not known if Briggs caused the damage to the motorcycle or if it already had it when he took possession of it.
Briggs was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail on three felony charges. Possession of a stolen vehicle, failure to stop at the command of an officer and violation of parole or probation.
