Man accused of punching cats says it was ‘self-defense’

OREM, Utah (News4Utah) – An Orem man is facing charges of animal torture for punching cats.

Thomas Anderson, 20, faces two counts of torture of a companion animal. According to the probable cause statement, Anderson punched two cats just after the New Year.

The charging document also accuses Anderson of holding the cats under water all according to Anderson, in “self-defense.”

He claims the cats were abusing him, so his actions were to defend himself. Both of the torture charges are third degree felonies.
