UTAH COUNTY (ABC4 News) – A Utah man was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after an argument with his girlfriend escalated to physical violence.
Luke John Battiloro, 37, of Provo, was booked into the Utah County Jail on charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, aggravated kidnapping, and criminal mischief.
Police officers responded to a home on Monday on the report of a domestic violence incident. Police said the victim, the Battiloro’s girlfriend, sent her mother pictures indicating she had been assaulted.
According to a probable cause statement, police said the victim and Battiloro got into an argument about the custody the victim has with her child’s father.
Battiloro reportedly became upset and attacked the victim. Arresting documents indicate Battiloro threw the woman against a wall, grabbed her by the neck, and threw her down the stairs causing her to lose consciousness.
Documents also state Battiloro refused to let the woman call for an ambulance, but at some point during the ordeal, she sent her mother pictures of her injuries.
After the victim told her mother what happened, Battiloro refused to let her leave the room, documents state.
Police eventually tried calling the woman to see if she was OK. Batilloro, while sitting in the room, told her to lie and say she wasn’t home. Police said she did so out of fear.
When officers entered the home, however, they found the victim in a bedroom in the basement. Battiloro was taken into custody.
Police said the woman sustained a concussion and deep bruising on her neck and multiple parts of her body.
