SOUTH JORDAN, Utah (ABC4 News) – Local scouts are collecting food for Utah food bank to distribute to local families during the 33rd annual scouting for food event.
The event benefits Utah food bank, regional food banks, and emergency food pantries across the state, officials said.
This effort has provided the equivalent of over 19 million meals and scouts hope to hit the 21 million meal mark with this year’s efforts.
Ginette Bott, President, and CEO of the Utah Food Bank said, “As we look at the course of the year we are coming into the months that are crucial. June July and August are the most challenging for the Utah food bank. So having the scouts provide this help right now as we prepare for the summer is very important.”
Last year, this location collected over 56,000 pounds of food, the largest collection site in the state.
