TAYLORSVILLE (ABC4 Utah)- City and county leaders in Taylorsville broke ground on a new performing arts center Thursday.

The Mid-Valley Performing Arts Center is the result of a partnership between Salt Lake County and Taylorsville City.

The center, located at Taylorsville City Hall at 2600 Taylorsville Blvd., is meant to provide new performance and rehearsal spaces to the fast-growing section of the country.

“We’ve planned to have community theaters like this across the valley. This will be the one in the Mid-Valley. We selected this location two years ago,” Salt Lake County Mayor Ben McAdams said. “Since that day we’ve been in design working out all the finer details and we’re now ready to begin construction,” he added.

The venue includes the 400-seat Mainstage Theater and 200-seat Studio 5400 Theater, a multi-use rehearsal room and support spaces, and professional theater services including ticketing, technical direction, event management, and guest services.
