SALT LAKE COUNTY (ABC4 News) – Little Cottonwood Canyon was closed for avalanche control Friday.
Unified police confirmed a natural slide occurred around 5:20 p.m. prompting the closure of the canyon to all up-hill traffic.
The canyon was completely closed a short time later due to the dangerous conditions.
Police informed the public that the canyon would be closed until Saturday 8 a.m. for more avalanche control.
Avalanches were also reported in American Fork and Provo canyons Friday afternoon.
