TOOELE COUNTY, Utah (ABC4 Utah) Tens of thousands of acres of land have burned in Tooele County due to several wildfires burning in the area.
A lightning storm traveled across the Onaqui Mountains Sunday and started several fires.
Crews responded to were able to put out some of the fires, while others grew larger.
Officials are treating these individual fires as one large incident, the Onaqui Mountain Complex.
The fire is burning grass, sage brush, pinyon juniper and approaching areas of timber.
High temperatures, low relative humidity and gusty winds could contribute to the fire’s growth.
Officials say the town of Terra was evacuated for two hours Monday evening while crews addressed approaching flames. The town is no longer threatened.
The fires are in an isolated area and are not threatening any more structures, infrastructure or wilderness areas.
