TOOELE, Utah – ( News4Utah) – Several homeowners are ready to evacuate at a moment’s notice after a lightning strikes sparked a fire in Tooele County.
Authorities are calling the fire the Ellerbeck Fire. They say it started around 10 p.m. at the north end of the Stansbury Mountains Monday and has since burned around 4,000 acres. By Wednesday morning officials reported the fire was 50 percent contained.
Wasatch Front Fire Management Officer Dave Vickers says the fire started to slow down around 5 a.m. Tuesday, but two nearby home businesses were asked to standby for evacuations if it becomes necessary.
