Legacy Crossing Blvd. reopened after gas leak

CENTERVILLE, Utah (News4Utah) UPDATE: Dominion Energy gave the all clear to occupy all apartments and the road was reopened around 6:15 p.m. Monday. 


A natural gas leak forced the closure of Legacy Crossing Boulevard in Centerville Monday afternoon.

Police said the road will be closed “until further notice.” 

The Legacy Crossing Apartment Complex located at 1162 West 200 North was evacuated as a precaution around 12:30 p.m. 

Dominion Energy was called to the apartments to investigate an odor of gas and the company detected dangerous levels of gas in the ground around Building B. As a result, Buildings A and B were evacuated by South Davis Metro Fire and Centerville police.

A total of 128 units have evacuated however police say most of them were not occupied at the time. Some residents did report they had animals inside their units. 

A temporary evacuation center was set up at Megaplex Theaters. Davis County Animal Control responded to assist residents with animals in their apartments.
