LDS Church donates $2M for African American history

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4 News) -The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced Wednesday afternoon it will donate $2 million to the International African American Museum for Family History. 

A press conference was held at the Salt Lake Convention Center and featured Elder David A. Bednar of presenting a donation to Michael Boulware Moore, President, and CEO of the International African American Museum, located in Charleston, South Carolina. 

The announcement was part of the 9th annual RootsTech Family History and Technology conference. Among the guests at the announcement was Martin Luther King, III, son of the late activist Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
