LAYTON, Utah (ABC4 Utah)- A Layton teen charged with molesting multiple children over several years was sentenced to prison last week.
19-year-old Alexander Clifton Winward pleaded guilty in May to four counts of felony aggravated sex abuse of a child. In a plea deal, prosecutors dropped several other charges of the same nature.
On July 10, Judge Michael Allphin, Farmington 2nd District Court, listened to multiple emotional statements given by the victim’s families before he sentenced Winward to four concurrent sentences of 10 years to life, with credit for the 310 days he spent in jail.
Documents say the incidents took place between April 1st and May 25th. Winward allegedly pulled the pants and underwear off of three 7-year-olds several times and touched them inappropriately.
During one incident papers say he told one of the kids that in order to play on the Xbox the child would have to let this happen. Another time two of the three boys were hiding underneath covers during a Nerf war game when “[Winward] reached underneath the covers” and fondled them.
Winward has been transferred to the Utah State Prison from the Davis County Jail to begin his prison sentence.
