Layton police: Teen attempts ‘Bird Box challenge’ while driving

Local News

LAYTON, Utah (ABC4 News)- Police in Layton confirm a teen driver crashed after attempting the “Bird Box Challenge” while driving.

It happened Monday afternoon on Layton Parkway.

The challenge consists of people doing everyday activities blindfolded. The new trend has become popular after Bird Box starring Sandra Bullock hit Netflix.

Officials say the 17-year-old teen decided to try the challenge while driving with a 16-year-old passenger.

They say she pulled her beanie over her eyes, immediately losing control of the vehicle.

She crossed over the line into oncoming traffic, hit another vehicle, and crashed into a light pole, police said.

Luckily no one was injured in the stunt.
