Layton City Fire Department responds to 2 brush fires within minutes

Local News
LAYTON, Utah (ABC4 Utah) – Firefighters in Layton responded to two brush fires Wednesday afternoon.

The first was near the East Gate of Hill Air Force Base which fire crews say started from the sparks from a lawnmower.

The fire was contained to two acres.

The other fire started at the Andy Adams Reservoir. Police question four juveniles running from that fire and Layton Fire says one of the teens admitted to starting the fire with a lighter.

That teen was released to his parents and the case has been turned over to juvenile court. The fire burned less than an acre.

Layton City Fire Marshal Doug Bitton urges the public to “respect fires devastating potential in these dry conditions, especially with the upcoming holiday and legal fireworks discharge date coming this Friday.”

“We ask the public to heed all restrictions and warnings.”
